Slashing the budget.

Recent events have made it so that we will have a car payment for the first time in 2.5 yrs...so I am slashing things from the budget in the hopes to pay off this new vehicle ASAP! My big girl will take a break from piano lessons- she wasn't loving it right now anyways, so hopefully when she gets back to it she will really enjoy it! I am attempting to cut the grocery budget by $60- which will put us at $300 a month for 5 people..plus the cat and lizard. I am also nixing the newspaper subscription! (which is only $8 but every little bit helps!) I have been throwing around the idea of working for a direct sales company again to try to bring in an extra $100/month but it may be tough because it would be online only sales. (plus I have to come up with $50 start up costs!) We will see what transpires.

In the coming days and weeks you will see LOTS of frugal posts from me! I used to be way better, but since our budget got looser for a while I didn't pinch the pennies quite as much- but we are back at it!! Right now I am making chicken stock from a whole chicken I cooked for dinner tonight, which also gave me enough leftover meat for 2 casseroles (yes sorry kids, its casserole time again!) and a pot of chicken stock. I am not sure what I am going to use the stock for yet, but I know it freezes well, and I didn't want any part of the chicken to go to waste. I will be trying my hand at homemade yogurt in the crockpot and possibly homemade mozzarella cheese! So keep your eye out for some great upcoming posts!!

But if you quit taking the weekend paper, you will miss the coupons which you will probably go back to using since your grocery stores offer such good deals.
