Road Trip Part 1

We decided to take a road trip with the kiddos this summer. Tennessee was on our radar- we had hoped to also make it down to Pensacola but our plans changed last minute so we will have to go there another time. We were going to take our camper and camp along the way but things kept breaking or happening to it. So, I convinced my husband that God obviously thought taking the camper was a bad idea so we should just stay in hotels and with family. He finally agreed. We will use our camper closer to home next time. Our trip took the first turn when we were asked to take a foster baby the week before. We agreed that if she could go on our trip with us that would be fine. Thankfully the judge signed off on it and she came along. With 5 kids and traveling 3,000 miles round trip we had an adventure ahead of us. Our first day was a long drive and took about 11 hours with stops. We left at 4 am so the little ones would sleep for a few hours right off the bat; it worked out well. We made it to my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws house the first day. The kids had fun playing with their cousins and we all had fun hanging out. The next day we didn't have a super long drive, so didn't get up and leave very early. We made it to Mt. Vernon, Illinois the second day. We stayed at a Drury Inn, which have great two room suites for big families. They also serve dinner and breakfast which are included in their room rate. They have a great pool as well so we enjoyed a fun family swimming time that night. Enjoy the pictures.
