Happy 4th of July!!

The guy on the left is our friend Jason!

This picture is pretty meaningful to those of us who live in Colorado Springs- its our brave firefighters, police officers and military putting up our American flag on the mountain where there was so much destruction last week. The fire destroyed 347 homes and took 2 lives. These guys worked so hard and continue to do so to get this fire out and make our town safe again.  We are currently at 80% containment.

As a child I lived in a small town in Southern California- we had a little bit of military presence but not much for me personally. My dad and father in law were both in the Air Force- but my dad got out before I was born and my father in law was in the reserves when I met my husband, and retired a few years ago. I don't think I ever really appreciated what the military did for us, mostly out of the ignorance of just not knowing what all of their sacrifices are and all they have given up to help keep our country free. Then 9/11 happened- and I was an adult and I got it a little better. I watched the news and saw the devastation of  lives lost but I was still so far away from it. Then we moved to Colorado Springs..and hello military! I will never comprehend what its like to be a military family or have my husband gone so much fighting for our country. I wont ever realize all the sacrifices these people go through- but now they are my friends. And I see the work they put into it and how much they give up to serve our country. You guys are amazing- I am in awe of you!

We are so thankful to live in this free country and thankful for those who fought and lost their lives so many years ago to make sure we were free...and those still fighting to make sure we stay that way!!

One freedom I am thankful for is being able to Homeschool my children!!

So thank you to all our service men and women. You guys ROCK!!! We appreciate you so much!!

Happy 4th of July!!
